Glenn Bill, ’86, wins podcast award

Glenn Bill, BCHS Class of 1986, has received a second National Communicators Award for one of his Get Attitude Podcasts (The GAP). The first Award in 2020 was for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion : The 8:46 Interviews Stories of Black America and featured BCHS Alums Todd Finnell, Raphael Coffee, and Allan Halliburton, as well as, Misty Ackles & Tamiko Madden.

This years Communicator’s Award was for Non-Profit & Spirituality: Featuring the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program recognizing excellence in communication across a spectrum of industries, championing effective and meaningful work.

Mike Buting, ’79, retires from banking career

Mike Buting, BCHS Class of 1979, retired after a 38-year career as a federal banking regulator with the U.S. Treasury Department.

Mike spent his entire career living and working in California, with extensive travel throughout the U.S. Thus, Mike plans to spend most of his time enjoying his retirement years with his wife Rina and two children in sunny Southern California.

Congratulations on a long career and best wishes in your retirement!

Rachel Ward, ’11, is interim head coach at E. Stroudsburg U.

Rachel Ward, BCHS Class of 2011, is now in her fourth year of coaching the women’s lacrosse team at East Stroudsburg University, the No. 1 team in the 2023 Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Women’s Preseason Top 20.

The team is coming off the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II championship game. Rachel had been nationally recognized for her contributions in that year by being named the IWLCA’s Division II Outstanding Assistant Coach in 2022.

For the 2023 season, Rachel takes on a new challenge, as she is the interim head coach for the team while the current head coach is on maternity leave.

“At the end of the day, my job is to help the players be the best they can be every single day,” Rachel said. “Does it get a little stressful? Yeah, it does. But it’s the season. The season is what we live for, and if I have to take on a couple of extra things to help them, then I will do that.” 1

Rachel played received many awards while playing at BCHS and played collegiate women’s lacrosse at Lock Haven University, helping them advance to NCAA Div. II Final Four in 2014.

Paul Mullin, ’97, is law firm manager

Paul Mullin, BCHS Class of 1997, is the managing partner of Lewis And Wilkins, a law firm in Indianapolis. He began practicing in 2005 as a litigator.

In late 2022, he was accepted into the Washington, D.C. bar after the year-long application and vetting process.

Matthew Quigley, ’03, receives firefighters award

Congratulations to Matthew Quigley, BCHS Class of 2003, who recently received the Zionsville Professional Firefighters Leadership Award from the Local 5195.

He also received a Unit Commendation Award at a Zionsville’s recent awards ceremony.

Alumni Basketball League 2023 Champions

The Men’s 2023 Alumni Basketball League began play January 8, 2023 and wrapped up a great season in early March.

Congratulations to the 2023 A League team winner ‘2012 Team Traub’, with a 62-54 victory over 2016 Team Godlevske. Winning team members were Matt Hurrle, Nick Traub, Dan Buhler, Greg Gardner, Aaron Robison, Matt Hunt and Tyler Brazill.

Congratulations to 2023 B League team winner 2009 Team Commiskey, with a thrilling 73-70 win over 2006 Team Brodnik. Winning team members were Andrew Howard, John Brumleve, John Sahm, Nick Sahm, Pat Archey, Collin Smart, Ricky Rivelli, Chase Hofmeister, Steve Commiskey, Daniel Sahm and Nick Sahm.

Camron Brown, ’16: his toothpaste gives back

Camron Brown, BCHS Class of 2016, is now co-owner of Grind Goods, a natural charcoal-based toothpaste company, whose products will soon be on the shelves at Wal-Mart.

The company donates 25% of its profits to Homeless not Toothless, a non-profit that works to give disadvantaged groups, including homeless veterans, the ‘confidence to smile’.

Two locations close to home also stock the products: 4545 Lafayette Rd, Indianapolis and 2373 E Main St, Plainfield, IN.

“I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for Indianapolis, Indiana. Everywhere I go, a piece of Indianapolis is with me because I am a product of Indianapolis. I am a product of what someone in the inner city of Indianapolis can become,” Camron said in an article on wrtv.com.
