Congratulations to Maryann (Richard) Gaines, BCHS Class of 1990, on her recent honors as she pursues a new profession.

After working in the automotive industry for 20+ years, Maryann began a path towards her new career. She currently is working part time at IUPUI as a tutor/mentor while attending classes full time at Indiana University East.

In her studies, she has been honored on the :

• 2021-2022 Part-Time Dean’s List at IU East, School of Natural Science & Mathematics
• Fall 2022 Chancellor’s list (IU East), maintaining that standing since August 2021.

Maryann will graduate in December 2024 with the highest academic distinction. She was also recently inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

In January 2024, she will begin studies on her second bachelor’s degree in the accelerated BSN program at IUPUI, hoping for a dream job working in otolaryngology reconstructive surgery.

“I believe that my education at Bishop Chatard combined with the skills I learned in the military have helped me to understand the importance of hard work and dedication,” she writes.
