Three recent BCHS alumni (Class of 2017) are part of the productions in the 2017 summer season of Shawnee Theatre, the oldest professional summer theatre in the state, located in Bloomfield, IN. Jacob deCastro designed the season poster, (view season poster here). Jackson Janowicz wrote the play, ‘World Famous Shawnee Melodrama’ to be shown July 20-23. Jack Lockrem will be performing in that play. BCHS Theatre teacher Bri Lindsey is the Producing Artistic Director of the Theatre. Find out more about the Shawnee Theatre. Katherine Sergi, BCHS Class of 2013,  recently contacted us from Disney World! She  is working at Walt Disney World as a photographer and also at the Orlando Science Museum as an educator.  Thank you for sharing your accomplishments, Katherine!

Margaret writes to us about her work helping parents and students successfully learn to read: “Since graduation, I have written over 100 books. I write an education column Dear Teacher for King Feature Syndicate. I also have a website,  dearteacher.com to help parents get their children successfully through school from pre-school through college. Also I have just developed my second app to teach children to read. You can get my three apps from my website dearteacher.com and you will be taken directly to the Apple App Store. One app Dear Teacher is a totally free app for parents and the second two apps Skinny Books help your children learn to read more than 200 rhyming words and 37 basic sight words. Skinny Books 2 will help them learn an additional 200 rhyming words and 18 new sight words. In addition they will have learned almost every consonant sound. Save the date, June 3, 2017, (7:00pm) — for that is the date the Class of 1965 will celebrate our mutual (for the most part) 70th birthdays! The place is George’s Neighborhood Grill, 6935 Lake Plaza Drive, in the shopping center on the south east corner of 71st & Binford. If you’ve never been to George’s, visit their website to find out more. The food and service is always good; the location is convenient and parking is easy. We are looking for a rough idea of the number who would be interested/able/willing to attend. There will be a private room, size dependent on the number of people attending. There is no need for a committee or formal RSVP, but we will need to meet a minimum. Right now I’ve projected 40 people at $15/per person which will include some nice appetizers. Dinner and/or drinks will be your responsibility. Payment will be on the honor system. Wouldn’t you love to celebrate your birthday TWICE this year? Marlin Bunnell, BCHS Class of 2015, was named to the Pioneer Football League Honor Roll for the second year! Marlin is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Dayton.

Graham Wilkerson, BCHS Class of 2008, was featured on Inside INdiana Business the weekend of Feb. 10, 2017 for his business’ success! Graham doubled the size of his company, Genesis Sports Performance, in just over a year with his unique training model.

Congratulations to Rob Dury, BCHS Class of 2013, on being named to the 2016 Don Hansen Division II All-America Second Team! This was Rob’s first collegiate career All-American honor! Rob, a member of the U. of Indianapolis football team, compiled 125 total tackles last fall, ranking sixth in Division II in tackles per game (11.4) and seventh in fumbles forced (3). He finished his collegiate career with 392 tackles, sixth in UIndy’s all-time list. Read the full story in the U. of Indianapolis website

Alexis (Bacon) Yates, BCHS Class of 2004, recently was named Director of Prospect Enrichment Preschool located in Seattle, WA. PEP is a non-profit preschool serving low-income and even homeless children. Alexis writes, “This presents an opportunity to use academic and extracurricular experience gained at Bishop Chatard in a way that serves those who are less fortunate”. Alexis married Jarrod Yates of Brownsburg, IN on Sept.3rd. They ‘road tripped’ from Seattle to be married in Indy at The Alexander Hotel. Congratulations Alexis on the marriage and the new position!
