Andy Mundell, ’03, & team win Make 48 Reality Show

Congratulations to Andy Mundell, BCHS Class of 2003, who with a team of teachers at Purdue Polytechnic High School, are national winners of season 5 of the PBS Reality Show “Make 48”, an invention-related reality show.

They won the competition with the invention of ‘Don’t Wet Your Pants’ — well, you need to view the video to understand what this is all about.

Andy was a teacher at BCHS and currently teaches at Purdue Polytechnic. Congratulations Andy and team!

Amy (Scheidler) Sweet, ’04, welcomes baby girl

Congratulations to Amy (Scheidler) Sweet, BCHS Class of 2004, and family on the birth of baby Caroline Ann Sweet. Big siblings, Rosie and Michael, are so proud and love helping with her.

Will Zander, ’08, to wed

Will Zander, BCHS Class of 2008, is engaged to Mary Kate Knorr, daughter of Tom and Marie, of Joliet, Illinois. They will be married a St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Chicago on August 20, 2022.

Will has lived in Chicago for almost 4 years, working as a Special Agent with the FBI. Mary Kate formerly served as the Executive Director of Illinois Right to Life She is the Founder and Director of Feminae Vero, an organization whose vision is to serve, educate, and evangelize girls and women by sharing the truth about their reproductive health and how it connects to our Catholic faith.

Julie (Hornbach) Funk, ’01, is new mom

Jack Funk was born in March 2022 weighing 6 lb, 12 oz. He joins siblings Max (8), Leo (6), and Chloe (5), writes his mom, Julie (Hornbach) Funk, BCHS Class of 2001.

James Brooks, ’03, is wed

Congratulations to James Brooks (class of 2003) and now living in Juneau, Alaska, who recently married Caitlyn Ellis of Riverton, Utah, in a private ceremony in Bermuda.

Ethan Bremer, ’05, is new dad

Congratulations to Ethan Bremer, BCHS Class of 2005, and his wife Melissa as they welcomed their first child, Beckett William Bremer in May!

J.T. Funk, ’01, BCHS VP of Advancement

BCHS is excited to welcome back BCHS graduate, J.T. Funk (Class of 2001) as the new Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Bishop Chatard.

Mr. Funk served on the faculty of Bishop Chatard for seven years as an English teacher and as department chair for three of those years before leaving education to practice law. He spent the last seven years pursuing a law degree and founding a successful law practice before “being called to return to Catholic education.”

“I am excited to bring my experiences, training, and personal qualities back to Catholic education, particularly Bishop Chatard, and I am excited to push myself in new ways,” Mr. Funk said. “I welcome the opportunity to learn from other school leaders and anticipate the challenges that will present themselves. I look forward to this opportunity to help Bishop Chatard continue to grow and excel in fulfilling its Catholic mission.”

Meredith (Smith) Fredrickson, ’00, RN

Congratulations to Meredith (Smith) Fredrickson, Class of 2000, on graduating with her Bachelors degree in Nursing in May 2021 and now working at IU north hospital in Carmel, IN on the postpartum unit, caring for new mothers and babies. Meredith spent almost a decade working at Bishop Chatard in the advancement office between admissions and communications and marketing. She loved her time at BCHS but as Bishop Chatard encourages young men and women to follow their dreams, she found that she needed to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She resides in Indianapolis with her husband Sean and their three children who attend St. Pius X school.
