Fr. Charles (Chuck) Tuttle, ’66

Fr. Chuck, class of 1966, was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Belleville in 1974 and has been involved with Catholic Education ever since. He taught for 30 years at Mater Dei Catholic High School in Breese, IL and in 2005, was named Director of Advancement at the High School. Fr. Chuck also currently serves as the pastor at two parishes, St. Augustine, Breese and St. Anthony, Beckemeyer and is Illinois Associate State Chaplain.  He is also involved with the Knights of Columbus there.

Indy Trolley debuts

Just this past November, Jack Carr Boyd, Class of 1965, started his own trolley business, Indy Trolley.  With a brand-new 26-passenger, handicap-equipped trolley, the business is focused on the wedding industry, but is happy to serve local corporate events, sporting and tourism, serving within a 100 mile radius of Bishop Chatard High School. Alumni Engaged!

Chris Zabriske and Jessi Hupp, both from the class of 2008, got engaged this past December. Their wedding is planned for October of 2013!

Running a Sub-4-Minute Mile!

Andrew Poore, class of 2007, is the 385th American runner to finish the 1600m race in under 4 minutes! He is the 7th runner representing an Indiana High School to accomplish this goal. Poore finished first at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington with a time of 3 minutes,  58.85 seconds.

Rob Kuhlman, Class of 2008, is currently employed as a production assistant at C-SPAN in Washington, D.C.

Steve Daily, ’65, receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Steve Daily, Class of ’65, was recently selected by the Kokomo Perspective to receive their 2012 Person of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. Mayor, chancellor, councilman, US soldier — Steve has been all of these and also a visionary who promoted the growth of Kokomo and of the people around him. His journey after BCHS includes seeing a new City Hall built, starting plans for Kokomo Beach, Wildcat Walk of Excellence, Jackson Morrow Park and promoting Leadership Development. Steve was a vital part in many Kokomo activities. Congratulations Steve!

Monica (Ruberg) Helfrich welcomes new son

Congratulations to Helfrich family, as Monica, Class of 2004, and her husband Barry, welcome a new son into their family. Carter was born in August, 2012 and joins his brother Evan, 2, in the Helfrich famly.

Martin brothers, former Chatard stars, key offensive linemen at Notre Dame

Zack Martin, Class of 2009, and Nick Martin, Class of  2011, share more than memories of playing football at Bishop Chatard. During their careers at BCHS, they won a total of three Class 3A state titles. Now, they look forward to playing together in the biggest college game of the season, as Notre Dame plays Alabama in the BCS national title game in Miami on Jan. 7. Zack is starting  left tackle for the  Irish.  Nick has become an Irish ‘super-sub’, playing several sports along the offensive line.

Zach Martin ’09, Leads the Irish with Skills and Smarts

Zach Martin, Class of 2009, a senior at Notre Dame, is widely regarded as the nation’s top offensive lineman. Martin is a force of nature at Left Tackle, and his commitment to perfection has led to unparalleled consistency. “He makes sure everything he does is perfect,” Irish center Braxston Cave said. “If he’s not, he does it again. You watch him on film, and it’s kind of the same thing over and over and over. He has his things down to an exact science, and he prides himself on that.”
